Egypt Launches National Desalination Alliance to Connect Research with Technology Projects

On 29 October, Egypt announced the National Alliance for Desalination for Food Security during Cairo Water Week, bringing together government agencies, universities, research institutions, financing bodies and private-sector companies. The initiative aims to turn scientific research into practical desalination projects to address water scarcity; Egypt’s annual water availability was reported at approximately 472 cubic metres per person, with national water needs reaching around 123 billion cubic metres annually.
